Run, don't walk

Saturday night, to defuse some of my ever growing twang, I went to another concert. This is funny I just now realized i went with Chris and Katie, and Chris and Catie. Can everyone stop naming their children Chris or Katie. The quota is filled!

Anyway we went to see The Format. Now, I have really liked this band for a while ( thanks Chrispy and Ty ), but now I love them even more. Everyone who reads this needs to somehow get a hold of this music. Learn every lyric and then go see the show!! These guys were so much fun!! The show was held at the Hawthorne Theater. A very small venue, which is the best kind. The band is new enough that they are still in awe that the crowd sings along, and they just feed off the enthusiasm. Plus, they are from Phoenix!!! No wonder they rock! I feel a little like a traitor saying this (not sure why), but this show kicked Dierks Bentley's behind! I think I'll always love the up and comers!

Super fun weekend!! Two concerts, that doesn't happen very often these days. Now, I need to go find a screwdriver so I can put the chair I've been bouncing on back together again. Yes, I bounce a lot when I'm excited.

I love The Format also. Ian made me a mix c.d. and it had the song "The Porch" on it. LOVE IT! Apparently Ian has one of their c.d.'s which I am going to put in my car.

I love that song too!! I'm adding it to my playlist, so everyone can hear this amazing song.

What a fun weekend! I really like The Format too. You probably already heard about Mom buying her piano from one of their dads, but that was pretty funny.

One of the things I love most about you Merilee is that you have opened my world to all sorts of new music. I listen to stuff I never would have found. Chris can't figure me out. he just laughs. The other day we were driving and I wanted a new cd put in. I asked for the white stripes cd and he said, "what?" I repeated myself and he just shook his head. I absolutely love my mixed cd's you made me and they are my girls' favorite too. I love the songs of this group too you posted about although I've never heard of them. I can handle something new to listen too. Exciting. : )

I thought that Mom bought her piano from Jimmy Eat World's dad?

btw, I had a blast listening to Holly Jolly Christmas on August 6th. What a great rendition of the song.

Is Jimmy Eat World his real name?

I have a hard time listening to "on your porch" It makes me cry every time. It makes me think of dad right after he had his strokes while he was in the hospital. I had driven straight there from being an EFY counselor and when I got there he looked so little and sick and he didn't know who I was. I just sat there and cried for like 2 hours. MOnique kept trying to get me to go hold his hand (he really liked holding peoples hands at the time) and I couldn't even do that

Arizonians do have a twang. I heard mine the other day.

AHHH! I can't listen to the youtube clip and your music on your blog at the same time. Yikes. Is there a way to turn off your blog music?

I can just hit the pause button on the playlist from here. I think you should be able to do that. Top left hand coener of playlist.

Okay, so just to prove the power of music, here's a little story that is true, because it just happened. So, I am all butthurt because I'm on vacation a desperately trying to discover what I want to do with the rest of my life. The one good thing I had going today was that I was going to the doctor (finally) after going 7 months without my asthma medicine. Well, I'm always late to everything so I missed my appointment and blamed it on Brecken. I tried to reschedule, but they can't get me in at all this week, plus they are charging me $20 for canceling day of. So now I'm even more bitter. Then I decide to check out Mer's blog and Snails starts playing. Brecken come's over to me and says "Dad, I hear that song. I like it." Then he danced over and gave me a kiss. I could've just punch myself in the face. Trying to blame my mistake on a three year old, what kind of a retard does that! Anyway, I like The Format too, but you should have been at the Awake & Alert show last night. Seriously, Whit on the sax!

Tomallama?? Is that you? I can't believe it! is that really you? yay!!

Good story, I'm glad I could help.

I agree w/ Meg and Mer. Tomallama needs a blog.
That was the saddest story ever. Plus, it made me feel even worse for forgetting about you guys coming over. I am such a lame sister. I hope something good came out of last week.
Tom, I just have to say that you are one of the most wonderful people I know and I feel your pain w/ your Brecken story. My kids have humbled me on more the one occasion.
